Mic Smith has been a photojournalist for about 20 years. The last 14 years at The Post and Courier in Charleston, S.C. Mic started Mic Smith Photography LLC in 2009. Pictorials have always been a favorite to photograph since Charleston and the Lowcountry lends itself to beautiful scenery.

While working for The Post and Courier in Charleston, Mic Smith helped chronicle the construction of a new Cooper River Bridge from Charleston to Mount Pleasant. This image shows a unique point in time when the new bridge was almost finished but the two older bridges had yet to be dismantled. It also is a favorite of Mic's, because the image of the girl running across the rocks along Sullivan's Island represents the simple joy of childhood and all its possibilities.
